UTSA is looking for their first ever win in Ruston. The Bulldogs are looking to get bowl eligible with a win. Plenty to play for in for in this one. The Keys to the Game as always are brought to you by Jackson Financial.

Continue the suffocating defense

The last six quarters of football for this defense have some of the best I’ve ever seen. This lights out defense might be due in part because of the return of a few players combined with some others getting healthy. Josiah Taueafa has returned to the lineup, Austin Jupe’s shoulder seems to have gotten better, Clayton Johnson returned last week after missing a few weeks. Things are clicking just in time for this unit.

Take advantage of good pass protection

Not something that has happened a lot last four years, but UTSA might actually be good in pass protection heading into their regular season finale. They held one of the most dominant pass rushes last week to only one sack. That is a big win for this offense. Sturm was able to complete 66% of his passes for 264 yards. His best QBR since the Southern game. The return of Juan Perez seems to have brought something to this offensive line. If UTSA can duplicate last week's performance Sturm might be able to take advantage of a sub par La. Tech pass defense.

Finish strong

A win this weekend is huge for this program. Expectations might have been a little inflated after the 3-0 start, but a win in Ruston (something UTSA has never done) combined with a second consecutive bowl appearance is pretty solid for a young program. After all the craziness this season has brought, Frank Wilson still has a chance at 8 win season with a win. I think most would have taken that in the offseason.
