A few times this year UTSA has seen a game come down to the final seconds only for the chance at victory to be pulled away by the opponent.
Just this past Sunday the Roadrunners had a chance to knock off ranked Florida Atlantic but a last second shot by Carlton Linguard bounced off the rim and the game went to overtime where the Owls pulled out the win.
On Wednesday night the breaks finally went the Roadrunners way. UTSA (8-12, 2-5 AAC) got the winning shot to go down with 2.3 seconds left to stun Tulane 89-88 in the Convocation Center. The Green Wave (12-7, 3-4 AAC) were coming in with momentum after beating Memphis in New Orleans on Sunday.
The winning shot came on a three by Jordan Ivy-Curry, the only three he made in seven attempts. Ivy-Curry finished the night with nine points. The top Roadrunner scorer was Carlton Linguard who scored a career high 31 points to go with 10 rebounds.
UTSA was fortunate to be in a position to win the game. The Roadrunners started the game 0-for-15 on three point shots and finished 1-for-17 from beyond the arc in the first half. Despite that the Roadrunners only trailed Tulane 41-40 at halftime.
The Roadrunners had better luck beyond the arc in the second half, going 11-for-19. UTSA opened the second half making a three to take their second lead of the night. It was the second of 19 lead changes on the night. The two teams were tied nine times.
After leading most of the game on Sunday and losing, UTSA experienced the other side of things, only leading for 6:20 of the game but coming out with the win.
