Everyone was wrong last week, so obviously we can only get better (hopefully). Here are our predictions for the UNT game.

Jared Kalmus - UnderdogDynasty.com/Alamodome Audible Podcast - Record (2-2)

Gah this game has really been eating away at me because it's so hard to call. I've long felt that UNT was a poor matchup for UTSA and that continues to hold true after watching UTSA's secondary flail around against Southern Miss. I do, however, believe in the value of bounce back games and I'm sure we'll see a strong performance from UTSA. I'm thinking the Roadrunners control the ball really well and limit UNT's possessions. Give me a Jared Sackett field goal to win the ball game and keep C-USA West wide open.

To use a prognosticator cliché, I could see this game going either way. Will a resurgent UTSA, fresh off of a streak-ending loss, regain their focus and make UNT's offense one dimensional? Or will a fresh North Texas team take advantage of UTSA's depth / injury issues up front and control the game? I wish I could tell you. This is a game where we really see how the coaches and team respond to a season-defining moment. Outside of some division shenanigans, this matchup is essentially a must-win to capture C-USA West.

I've done pretty well at these predictions so far this year (Except for last week). This week is a tough one because UTSA and North Texas are both good. I've leaned toward picking North Texas and I've also leaned toward picking UTSA. After thinking it over I've decided to pick UTSA based on defense. A week ago the Roadrunner defense came as close to being embarrassed as could be by Southern Miss. They will look to atone for that and they have a good chance against North Texas. This game will come down to who stops the other guys offense. I believe the UTSA defense will do that and UTSA will add even more chaos to the C-USA west race.

UTSA 34- North Texas 27.

Led by Sophomore QB Mason Fine and a strong ground game, North Texas remains the only unbeaten team in conference play (2-0). I think that changes this week. UTSA's defense is too talented and plays too hard to look like they did last week. I see Tauaefa and company coming out with something to prove this weekend in Denton. Additionally, I see this as a bounce back game for Jalen Rhodes and the Roadrunners rushing attack. Ultimately, I think UTSA controls the line of scrimmage and grinds this out in a thriller.

This is a big game for both programs very early in the season. For UNT, a win on Saturday could propel them to a bid in the CUSA championship game. As for UTSA a loss would likely eliminate them from contention in the West. A shame so much is on the line so early in the season, but that’s kinda the beauty of college football.

UTSA should be able to dominate the lines of scrimmage much like they did against Texas State. Unfortunately I think UNT’s offense will prove to be a little too much even with the advantage in the trenches. Mason Fine, Jalen Guyton, and Jeffery Wilson will have one too many big plays for UTSA’s defense to handle as UNT wins a close one.
