Runners Groove
A key for UTSA this game is to find an early groove for steady offensive consistency. Not necessarily for putting points on the board, but to maintain possession when need be going against a clock control offense that Army runs who can eat up a lot of clock. So being able to do the same yourself and give the defense a rest is going to be an integral part of possibly stealing momentum at key points and a victory.
On the road to success
Army is coming off giving up over 200 yards on the the ground. UTSA just coming off of rushing for 104 yards, their lowest rushing out put since the UAB game last season (52 yards). This would be a great time for the Offense to get footing on establishing their run game in the offense. The Matt Mattox offensive line has done well in protecting the quarterback and now it’s time for the other shoe to drop and drive the ball by way of the ground.
Eye Discipline
Going up against the triple option offense will take great eye discipline from the Roadrunners defense. Gap control and pressure can simplify what the linebackers responsibility can end up being. UTSA linebackers will need to make proper reads on the could end up turning and running a long way in the opposite direction. Understanding what you’re seeing and being disciplined is a major key for this UTSA team to stop the Army run game.
