We conclude our fall preview series by looking at the wide receivers and tight ends.

The receiver corps is very experienced with three seniors currently starting in each respective spot. Kerry Thomas has broken many of UTSA’s receiving records and has a chance to break a couple more this upcoming season. Behind Thomas as of now is San Antonio native Peyton Hall. Even though Hall hasn't contributed much during his career at UTSA this might be when he becomes more involved in the offense.

Josh Stewart will man the other receiver position after a breakout 2016. The former walk-on will team up with his brother (Kerry Thomas) to help UTSA put up receiving numbers that have never been achieved before. The issue with Stewart was his consistency. He came out with a bang last year, but seemed to fade towards the end of the year. There might have been some issues we might not have aware of, but it is still something he must work on this season. Another San Antonio native in Larry Stephens is listed in the two-deep behind Stewart.

At the slot position Brady Jones returns after a solid junior year. Marquez McNair looks to bounce back after a bit of a disappointing year. He showed flashes of what he is able to do, but he was plagued by mental mistakes that ultimately lead to him getting listed as the backup to Jones. I still believe McNair can reach his potential and become the threat that everyone believed he could become when he signed as one of the best junior college wide receivers in the country.

Tight end is going to be interesting this year. Shaq Williams will likely get the nod as the starter come game time vs. Houston. Williams is primarily a pass catching tight end, that usually wouldn't be an issue if UTSA didn't use their tight ends in the running game. That is where Robert Ursua comes into play. He might not have the pass catching abilities Williams has, but he is able to do a lot more for Scelfo’s offense. It will be fun to see how they interchange these two in the offense. Both are talented and both will play vital roles in the success of the offense.
