UTSA closes their regular season tomorrow versus rival(?) Louisiana Tech. The Roadrunners are looking for their first ever win in Ruston. Here are our last regular season predictions.

For whatever reason UTSA and Louisiana Tech love to duke it out on the field. It's not a rivalry in the traditional sense but make no mistake -- these two rosters do not like each other. We should be in for an even more physical game this year as both teams have been limited on offense. Defense should rule the day and I think UTSA gets the edge there. The Bulldogs do have more explosive threats on offense but I see the Roadrunners really getting after quarterback J'Mar Smith in a sloppy, low-scoring affair that keeps Louisiana Tech out of a bowl game.

Here we are, folks. Last conference game of the season. The short and (not so) sweet of it is… to win, I believe UTSA's defense will need to continue to play lights out, and also the offense must get in the end zone twice in addition to field goals. They can do it. But will they do it? I'll answer that question with another question: when was the last time the Roadrunners played a complete game on the road? The Bulldogs are vulnerable, but are playing for too much and have their receiver core back at full strength. I'm 50/50 on this, but give me UTSA coming up one touchdown short.

The Roadrunners have gotten to six wins and are eligible for a bowl but even at 6-5 they might be pushing it to get an invite. A 7-4 finish would look better in the eyes of the bowl selectors (whether C-USA tie in bowl or other bowl). That being said it won't be easy to roll up into the pineywoods of Ruston and get a win. Especially with La Tech at 5-6 and fighting to get their sixth win.
The Roadrunners have added motivation after the way last year's game ended with La Tech scoring up until the final play. I've picked UTSA in almost every game this year. I don't know if I can do it this week. The best way for UTSA to win will be to have another outing like last week where they keep the Bulldog offense off the field. It will be close and low scoring. I flipped a coin on this one.

I think Dalton Sturm and company right the ship in their last conference game of the season. After an all out defensive battle resulting in a 9-7 win against Marshall last week, the UTSA offense is searching for playmakers, specifically at receiver. I believe the defense will continue to dominate as it has most of the season; I expect a huge game from Marcus Davenport. UTSA's defense will create opportunities and solid field position for Sturm and the offense. The Roadrunners outlast the Bulldogs.

Oddly confident about my pick this week. The 9-7 score last week is a bit deceiving in my opinion. UTSA played well even with the lack of scoring. If they can continue what they did last week and fix the red zone issues there should be no reason why UTSA cannot win this game. J’Mar Smith seems to struggle with when has had to face good defenses, UTSA brings in the best scoring defense in CUSA. It will be a low scoring, one possession game.
