Last year a Corpus Christi Miller Buccaneer developed a buzz. The Buccaneers went 12-1 and the young man who leads the team behind the buzz is none other than c/o 2021 QB Andrew Body who put up over 4700 yards passing completed 66% of his passing attempts with 47 touchdown passes and only 2 interceptions last season. When I asked about the upcoming season he answered “Honestly I would’ve liked to play the runner up or the state champ to see where we truly stand and get us ready for district to start off our season for my senior year.” Not one lacking for confidence in his teams ability who averaged 54 points per game in 2019 “I want to make sure everybody on my squad eats. All my receivers! Last year we had 3 guys have 1k yards receiving and this year I want 4 guys to do it.” exclaimed Body.

Definitely passionate about getting respect and being the best quarterback and team they can possibly be motivates Andrew to no end. “ I remember my freshman year we went 4-6. I Know we went 12-1 last year but I’ve been 4-6 before and no playoffs. So I keep that mindset and state is the goal! I never want to us feel that way again , like we did after freshman year.” So Andrew puts in the work. He has a speed coach who works on his explosiveness and his quarterback coach is Reggie McNeal former QB at Texas A&M. He also maintains a 3.8 GPA and during the quarantine isn’t slacking on schooling. “My GPA just went up so I’m happy about that! I’m working out after school which is 9am-2pm.”Said Andrew.
The numbers he posted caught some D1 schools attention and he recently received his first offer from Texas Southern University. “ It was good to get my first offer. Im in contact with a few schools. Lamar , University of Incarnate Word and UTSA a little bit and coaches have been following me on twitter and I send them my HUDL film so recruiting is going well during the quarantine.” Andrew stated
Corpus Christi Miller was one of schools that felt the affect of the UIL realignment as they were moved from 5A to 4A. When asked about it Andrew said about the change “ I like the change! I have been hearing that since we are being moved to 4A it should be easier for y’all to get to state. But, none of the schools we are playing are push overs so that will not be this teams mindset. Our expectations will be the same as last year. You can’t sleep on the 4A teams, with the seasons Calallen has been having recently, that will most definitely be an interesting game!”.
With nothing but improvement and team goals on his mind Andrew went in depth on how he can improve to make his team better. “ I have been recruited as a pro style QB but i definitely want to improve on my running skills. There were opportunities i had on RPO plays that i know i can take advantage of now which will make me more of a threat for our team. Even though I completed 66% of my passes that can be improved on as well. “ Body Said. “If this team does what the coaches tell us to and we execute to the best of our abilities then Corpus Christi Miller has a very very good opportunity to be in Jerry’s World!“
Body wanted to make sure everyone knows that Miller is together and focused. “ Our team motto is B.Y.B! It means Burn Your Boat. It comes from being a buccaneer really. We are all on island and have to accomplish a goal. So are you going to hop in your ship and and leave your brothers or are you going to Burn Your Boat and work with your brothers to figure things out and get the job done. So yeah we are all on the same page B.Y.B!”Andrew explained.
Andrew Body is 6-foot-1 inch and 185 pounds and not currently ranked in the Rivals System.
