Analysis: The Roadrunners receiving corps has some big shoes to fill in replacing Greg Campbell Jr. who led the group with 658 yards. The leading scorer, Tykee Ogle-Kellogg returns looking to add to his three touchdowns in 2018. The receivers that do return and the youngsters just arriving can provide the Roadrunner offense with a potent air attack.

Blaze Moorhead - Moorhead will enter the 2019 season as the returning leader in terms of receiving yards from 2018. Last season Moorhead had 210 yards on 19 catches and one touchdown. It seems likely that Moorhead can improve on those numbers in 2019.

Brett Winnegan - If it seems like Winnegan has been at UTSA forever it is because, he has, at least since the 2015 season. He played in at least 10 games in each of his first three seasons at UTSA before redshirting in 2018. Now Winnegan will have one more season as a member of the Roadrunners. His experience from years past will be invaluable to the rest of the corps.

Kirk Johnson - Johnson was second to only Campbell Jr. in number of passes caught last season. He caught 20 passes for 137 yards. Johnson will likely battle with Moorhead, Ogle-Kellogg and Winnegan for top billing in the receiving corps. Those battles for the starting position will work themselves out in fall camp.

Tykee Ogle-Kellogg - Ogle-Kellogg led the Roadrunners in receiving touchdowns with three last season. The rest of the group had six. Ogle-Kellogg caught a total of 14 passes for 179 yards. He caught at least one pass in each of the first five games. He will likely get more passes going his way in 2019. The talent is there for him to build on the totals he put up last season.

Tariq Woolen - Woolen made his debut last season after redshirting in 2017. It was a good debut season as Woolen caught 15 passes for 158 yards and one touchdown. He is a name to keep an eye on in fall camp and as his redshirt sophomore season unfolds.

Sheldon Jones - Jones made his debut last season and played in 10 games, making two starts. Jones caught 10 passes for 74 yards. He also returned five punts and a kickoff in 2018. Jones will likely see a lot of action on special teams in 2019 but should also get reps at receiver.

Andrew McGowan - McGowan red-shirted last season. He will enter the 2018 season carrying the hopes of the Roadrunner fans in Sinton where he caught 47 passes for 733 yards and seven touchdowns as a senior. Fall camp is a chance for McGowan to earn a spot in the rotation of pass catchers in 2019. It is also possible that he is one of the freshmen who receive a red shirt at some point this season.

Joshua Cephus - Cephus comes to UTSA from Spring DeKaney High north of Houston. He played both receiver and quarterback in high school. Last season he caught 19 passes for 358 yards and four touchdowns. He also threw for 311 yards and four touchdowns and rushed for 109 yards and a touchdown. His role at UTSA will be with the receivers but his experience at quarterback could come in handy if injuries strike that position group.

Zakhari Franklin - Franklin makes his way to San Antonio from Cedar Hill where he was a standout with the Longhorns. Franklin's senior season resulted in 23 passes caught for 687 yards and nine touchdowns. A good fall camp for Franklin could lead to chances in the field this season.

Dywan Griffin - Griffin is another New Orleans product who has made their way to UTSA. He played football and basketball at Landry-Walker High School. On the football field in 2018 he caught 42 passes for 931 yards and 11 touchdowns. It was the first time he had played football since his eighth grade year. It will be interesting to see how his small sample size in high school translates to college.

De'Corian Clark - Clark is coming to UTSA after a strong career at Fort Worth Wyatt High and Everman High. In addition to playing receiver, Clark also saw action on special teams for Wyatt. As a senior Clark was named district MVP. He played his junior year at Everman. Clark also ran track and played basketball at both high schools. His versatility could go a long way in deciding what kind of spot he is able to find as fall camp moves into the season.

Prediction:The Roadrunner receiver corps has a nice mix of seniority and youth. The young players will have a chance to learn from the veterans and the veterans will have a chance to add to their totals from previous years with new leadership roles. As always a receiver is only as good as the man throwing the ball to him. The Roadrunners have no shortage of those either.
