QUARTERBACKS - 6 scholarships used

SR - Cordale Grundy, Brandon Garza

JR -

SO - Frank Harris, Lowell Narcisse

FR - Jordan Weeks, Suddin Sapien

Analysis: Frank Wilson and Jeff Kastl head into fall with six scholarship quarterbacks. Once things start getting narrowed down it will most likely be a three man battle between Frank Harris, Cordale Grundy, and Lowell Narcisse. All three have their strength and weakness, so it will likely come down to who can give this offense more upside. I would not be so quick to assume Frank Harris will be UTSA's starter week one. Grundy might have struggled at times last season, but he is a year older and has significant playing time under his belt.

Cordale Grundy - has a big fall camp ahead of him. The quarterback battle this fall will be one of the most competitive in recent years. Grundy will have to be on his 'A' game all camp long if he wants that QB1 spot week one. He will be pushed by Harris, Narcisse, and the rest of the scholarship quarterbacks. His biggest advantage is the fact he has snaps under his belt. Can he parlay that into the starting job? We will see.

Brandon Garza - plays a very important role on this team. While he might not be in the discussion when you talk starting quarterbacks, I would argue he plays one of the more important roles on this offense and on this team. When the offense is on the field Garza will act as a coach of sorts relaying calls to the offense.

Frank Harris - has the potential to be special. Unfortunately at this point it is all potential as injuries have prevented him from seeing the field. He comes into this fall camp healthy and looking to get hold of the starting job. Reports out of spring should make fans very optimistic, as he appeared to be the explosive player he was billed to be. He should be in the driver's seat this fall camp.

Lowell Narcisse - has the tools to be a dominant quarterback at the CUSA level. Being here for the spring was big for him. If he comes into fall camp with a better understanding of the playbook he will give himself a shot at the starting job. People do need to remember he is only a sophomore, he still has a ways to go in terms of development. Even if he does not win the job this fall it would be foolish to write him off moving forward.

Jordan Weeks - has one of the better arms in this group. It was trial by fire for him last season unfortunately. Hopefully Weeks can use his struggles last year as a building block to get himself into the QB1 conversation.

Suddin Sapien - is a very intriguing prospect, but most likely will need a redshirt year. Regardless, this summer/fall will be very important for his development. If things go well he might be able to see some playing time.

Prediction: There is going to be quarterback battle even if the fans don't want there to be one. Frank Wilson is not going name anyone the starter until game week and that is a big maybe. For now it is likely a three man between Harris, Grundy, & Narcisse.

We will see how things play out but I expect for Frank Harris to start week one against UIW. Grundy will be right behind him though. It will be up to Harris to take hold of the job and force Frank Wilson to keep him on the field. Harris gives the UTSA offense huge upside, but let's not forget he has never taken a D1 snap.
