The Roadrunners visit Tulsa this weekend looking to get back to .500 on the season as well as in conference play. UTSA is also looking to avoid starting 0-5 on the road for the first time in program history. They’ve got a good chance to avoid that streak against a Tulsa team on a three game losing skid. Roadrunners will also probably keep their streak of games with a takeaway on defense going and that will help get the win.

UTSA is back in the win column after last week, looking like a team that is finally able to iron out the kinks and get the ball rolling on offense. Tulsa on the other-hand is coming off a handful of disappointing losses. I’m positive Tulsa will be playing their hearts out Saturday for their homecoming game, but it’s hard to bet against a UTSA team that is fighting for their season, and possibly another bowl game.I expect the UTSA run game to find their footing in this one.

The way the schedule plays out, this Saturday is essentially a must-win for UTSA if they hope to become bowl eligible this season. While neither UTSA nor Tulsa is having the year they hoped to have, the Roadrunners appear to be on the upswing, just as the Golden Hurricane attempt to stop their 3-game losing streak. I have no doubt Tulsa will give it everything they’ve got, but UTSA should have enough in the tank to take home a win.

The Roadrunners (3-4, 1-2 American Athletic Conference) are coming off their first conference win last week over FAU. Now, they will get ready to hit the road to face Tulsa (2-5, 0-3 AAC). UTSA got a big game from Owen McCown last weekend, as the quarterback threw for 340 yards and two touchdowns. The Roadrunners committed three turnovers but only had five penalties, which was a huge improvement from the previous two games, especially the week before at Rice, where they had 16. I think this is a game where both offenses will put up some points, as both teams are giving up more than 30 points per game. UTSA gets their first road win of the season.

Sometimes the schedule makes you who you are for the betterment of the future. Following the FAU game getting an opponent with the deficiencies Tulsa has can spring board confidence and positive performances for the Roadrunners. Putting consecutive wins together for the first time this season is a tangible thing the work being put in recently has produced. Let’s see what the work recently can produce.

I might have missed the Roadrunners of old by one week. It was a bit scary there for a minute but Traylor and co. was able to pull it off. Now they need to string two good weeks together. I saw enough good things against FAU to believe this team can go on the road and get one against a poor Tulsa squad. If the young guys on offense can continue to improve there might a path to bowl eligibility. For now, the Roadrunners run over Tulsa.
