The Roadrunners look to improve to 7-4 on the year as rival North Texas comes to town. Here are our staff predictions for the week.

Jared Kalmus - Alamodome Audible - Record (7-3)

The UTSA-UNT rivalry is already rich with a storied history. We've seen blow outs, upsets, miracles, and all of the drama one could dream of. Chances are, we're in for another serving of football greatness this week with the Roadrunners and Mean Green set to square up once again.

UNT has been extremely sporadic this season, but their stellar performance against Rice has to have them teeming with confidence. Jason Bean has established himself as the clear starter at quarterback, while the defense just put together their best four quarter effort of the season.

Nothing will come easy for UTSA, but I think Jeff Traylor will have his guys ready to go in what could be the final game of the season. UNT still has two more guaranteed games, while this could be the end of the road for UTSA. A win keeps the Roadrunners' hopes of postseason play alive, so there's a lot at stake here. I think UTSA comes up just one score and one play ahead of the Mean Green at home.

Hated rival UNT comes into town for what could be the final game of the unforgettable 2020 season. UNT seems unrecognizable this year, even more so without Mason Fine under center.

I can find many reasons for UTSA to send a message and finish out the year strong with a statement game. Sincere seems well rested too, so I expect things on Saturday.

About the time everyone comes out of the turkey coma from Thursday the Roadrunners and Mean Green will face off on Saturday afternoon. I argued why it is the Thanksgiving rivalry Texas needs in my preview.

Aside from last year and the 2016 edition every game in this series has been close. I expect it to be another close game this Saturday in the Alamodome. North Texas will be looking to make it four in a row against UTSA and spoil the Roadrunners effort at a seventh win. UTSA will be looking to get their first win over the Dentonites since 2016 and get to seven wins for the first time since 2013.

Give me the Roadrunners and a side of mashed potatoes in this one. UTSA in a close one.

For my money, UNT has quickly become our biggest rival, and indeed, it's one of the more interesting rivalries in the state of Texas at the moment. The series is competitive (sorry Texas State), the stakes are often high (see 2013 and this year), and the fan barbs on Twitter have real heat behind them. All the factors you'd want in a rivalry.

This year, Roadrunner fans can expect a Mean Green team prone to giving up a ton of points, but one that can inflict pain as well. UTSA's corners have to watch for the likes of SR Jaelon Darden, a national top-10 wide receiver, and the whole defense needs to keep up with UNT's high snap count if they want to help earn the win. As usual with this series, it's going to be a wild one. Happy Thanksgiving.

UTSA faces an opponent who is more than eager to hit the field with any type of consistency in North Texas. Unfortunately for North Texas they are facing a team in UTSA realizing they have a lot to play for and are ascending and hitting their stride. I expect this to be a fun game for those viewing! I have UTSA capping off the regular season in style and making a statement for the postseason match up and seasons to come!

UTSA 37, UNT 24

Javi Cardenas - Publisher - Record (9-1)

It has been a while since UTSA played a game with any sort of implications in November. It is fitting that it is against North Texas of all teams. That being said this game is a tough one to pick. UNT has looked good of late and UTSA has been inconsistent. The Roadrunners do then to play better at the Alamodome, but I am not feeling warm and fuzzy about keeping the UNT offense at bay. Regardless of who takes this one it will be a close game.

Give me the Roadrunners in a close one that goes down to the last possession.
