UTSA is back home in the Alamodome after a two-week tour of I-35 that didn't end well. This week the Roadrunners hope to rebound against the Houston Christian Huskies. Houston Christian is an opportunity for UTSA to put the past two weeks behind them and build some momentum for conference play which begins next week. The Roadrunners should thrive against the Huskies and work on the things that have ailed them through three games this season.

After a whopping 70-7 win last week, Houston Christian University makes their way down to San Antonio to battle a UTSA squad that has seen quite a frustrating few weeks. UTSA is coming off back to back blow outs, and looking to right the ship Saturday afternoon. HCU has a balanced offense, and their defense is fully capable of snagging some interceptions. They have 5 on the year already. UTSA is looking to get the run game into fourth gear, I so expect a lot of shared carries. I predict UTSA will find a groove on offense we haven’t seen yet this season.

Once the clock hits 0:00 on Saturday, UTSA will have faced 11 different Division I FCS opponents, including Houston Christian. The majority of those programs are from Texas, and that’s just the way we should continue scheduling it. Logistically it makes sense, sure, but also there’s a certain emotional appeal to playing local schools. Dr. Campos, let’s get the rest of Texas on our books (there are 3 FBS, 3 FCS remaining).

Against HCU, I’m not interested in stat lines. The Roadrunners just need to continue building on the intangibles from last week to get this season chugging in the right direction.

The Roadrunners return home to the Alamodome this weekend to take on FCS Houston Christian after what could probably be the toughest two-game stretch in program history. After being outscored 105 to 17, I look for the Roadrunners to get back on track Saturday against the Huskies after a rough couple of weeks. They will regroup and get things together to get some confidence back before AAC play begins next week.

The Huskies to the Roadrunners fans will be a welcomed sight. The sight of the Huskies to the football team is “A TEST”. The test is to get on track before conference play and start displaying positive and consistent habits in all phases of the game. Thankfully they are back home which is definitely friendlier confines than the previous two road games. They aren’t the hotter of the two teams, but i think they will overcome adversity in this game and show progression.

Hard to take anything away when you get beat down like the Roadrunners did last week. But there were some positive takeaways to build on for this Saturday. The Runners are not a well oiled machine just yet, and it has shown. This game versus HCU presents a good opportunity for UTSA to get back on track against an FCS opponent. If they put together a good performance in all three areas of the game, fans should feel encouraged next week as they head to East Carolina.
