FIU is a bit of a baffling team. Their identity is hard to identify and as far as I can tell they're simply a hard-nosed, well coached football team. The job Butch Davis has done in Miami is really impressive but the team is still seeking talent upgrades at several positions. I think this game ultimately comes down to how clean of a game UTSA plays. Another eight penalty performance like the Roadrunners offered against UTEP won't cut it this week. I'm expecting UTSA to keep their modest win streak going as they reach bowl eligibility behind a big game from UTSA's running backs.

The Roadrunners have a chance to jump forward this week, playing against a winning opponent from out of state - both firsts this year. Despite FIU's mundane appearance on the stat sheet, they represent a stiff challenge for UTSA at this point in the season, particularly if the secondary can't hold up. A win in Miami would be big; I'm just not sure the jetlagged and injury-beleaguered Runners are ready to take the next step.

UTSA leaves the friendly borders of Texas for the first time this season to visit the FIU Panthers in Florida. The Roadrunners are just one win away from punching a ticket to a bowl somewhere. Wilson will have the Roadrunners up for the challenge. It will be close but UTSA will find a way to get their sixth win.

Marcus Davenport and the UTSA defense will have their hands full against FIU. Led by senior QB Alex McGough, FIU has a productive, balanced offense. The good news, though, is that McGough can be turnover prone at times. I believe that UTSA's defense will generate enough turnovers and big stops to win this game, even if the offense isn't clicking on all cylinders. The three-headed running attack of Sturm, Rhodes and Clay will prove to be too much in the second half and the Roadrunners will prevail.

This one is hard to call. I don’t know if UTSA or FIU are any good to be quite honest. The Panthers have beaten Tulane and Marshall, so you kind of have to give them the benefit of the doubt. The Roadrunners do not have the greatest track record when traveling to the East Coast going 1-4 when traveling to the Eastern Time Zone. All that being said I still think UTSA will pull this one off. Frank Wilson and his team need a “signature” win if you will, and this would be a pretty solid one. Jalen Rhodes, Dalton Sturm, and others seem to be getting healthier. We shall see how effective they all are this Saturday.
