The Roadrunners need to break out a beat down on the ground. They should be a force to recon with on the ground. Kevorian Barnes is averaging eight yards per carry against Rice. The last match up UTSA racked up 262 yards on the ground. Rice has given up over 175 yards on the ground in 3/5 games so far this year. Roadrunners need to run it up!
TEMPO TEMPO TEMPO
Controlling the flow of the game is going to be necessary for UTSA. Tempo does not have to be frantic or hurried. UTSA just needs to play controlled and have low to no pre snap penalties. This will show growth in game plan implementation and execution of plays. Keep the plays in the positive and control the down and distance to control the tempo.
START TO FINISH
Rice has scored a total of fourteen points this season in the first quarter. UTSA has only failed to score in 1 game thus far this season in the first quarter. Getting a lead and finishing strong is necessary for the Roadrunners. It will be a positive habit-forming occurrence if so. The last two games UTSA has put up ten points in the opening quarter. Unfortunately, they are only 1-1 in those games. So, getting the lead on a slow starting Rice team and maintaining to the finish is a definite key.
