The UTSA Roadrunners come out of their bye week at 3 and 0, and start conference play facing a Southern Miss team coming off a drubbing at the hands of the Michigan State Mean Green. Southern Miss is not nearly as bad as last week's 43 - 28 loss would indicate. Dynamic playmakers on offense and a very strong front 7 are gonna give UTSA everything they can handle. If UTSA hopes to win this one they are gonna need to have success in each one of our Jackson Financial: Keys to the Game.
Make Southern Miss one dimensional
This is very hard to do. Ito Smith is Southern Miss’ best player, and the less the ball is in his hands the better. Even with only 13 carries last week versus UNT, Ito was able to go over 100 yards with 2 TDs. UTSA needs to sell out to stop the run, and make Kwadra Griggs prove he can beat them through the air. Griggs is only completing 53.7% of his passes this season, and I don’t think he’ll be able to do it without a huge game from Ito.
