Fall is right around the corner. The Roadrunners will report for fall camp on July 31st for year two of the Frank Wilson era. Today we will look at running back.

It is the Jalen Rhodes show for the next two years. He has shown how effective he can be backing up Jarveon Williams these past few year, but it is now time for Rhodes to carry the load for UTSA. With little depth behind him, Rhodes will be expected to carry the ball quite a bit in this predominantly running offense.

Rhodes has dealt with some injuries in the past so it is definitely something to monitor, but it seems he has bulked up a bit more in order for his body to deal with increased work load. If Rhodes stays healthy and continues to improve like he has these past few years I would expect Jalen to surpass Jarveon Williams as the all-time leading rusher by the time he graduates.

Depth is an issue this year for Frank Wilson. He will likely have to rely on true freshman B.J. Daniels to be behind Rhodes. Fans have never seen a running back like Daniels come through the program. I would argue he is the most talented running UTSA has ever brought in. He is already listed at 6'2, 205 pounds, and only expect him to get bigger, faster, stronger. He will likely see between 10 to 15 touches a game this year. It will be fun seeing how Daniels gets adjusted to the college game and slowly starts to become the great player many think he can become in this offense.

Some other names you will likely hear this season include senior Tyrell Clay who has a been a very solid contributor to this program.

Brett Winnegan is another that might get his number called this fall. He has bulked up to 200+ pounds and if he manages to maintain his crazy speed will likely see the field this season.
