Last year in honor of the inaugural season in the AAC we looked at each game of the Roadrunners football schedule with interesting facts about each team on the schedule. The early look at the football schedule is back again this year for year two in the AAC.

UTSA will play nine of its 12 games in the state of Texas with its out of state road games being in Oklahoma, North Carolina and New York. The Roadrunners will have two home games in September, one in October and three in November.

The Roadrunners full schedule can be found below with info on all 12 opponents.

UTSA and Texas State will meet again this year. This time the Bobcats will have hosting duties in San Marcos. Last year the Roadrunners won 20-13 in the Alamodome.

Saturday August 31 v. Kennesaw State Owls

Series History: First ever meeting.

Last Meeting: N/A

Fun Facts: Until July of 2023 the Roadrunners were scheduled to host New Mexico State to open 2024. After that game was called off, UTSA and Kennesaw State found a way to fill that opening in the schedule. The Roadrunners will become the first team in NCAA history to play all four schools in FBS with Owls as a mascot in one football season. That little bit of history is thanks to Kennesaw State moving up to FBS in 2024 to join Conference USA. The Owls will begin their FBS journey in the Alamodome. Kennesaw State is located in Kennesaw, Georgia and began playing football in 2015.

Saturday Sept. 7 at Texas State Bobcats

Series History: UTSA leads 5-0 overall and 2-0 in San Marcos

Last Meeting: Sept. 9, 2023, in the Alamodome, UTSA won 20-13.

Fun Facts: From 2012-2023 the only way for Texans to get their fix of Orange v. Maroon in college football was UTSA and Texas State. In that time frame, UTSA went 5-0 against their rivals from San Marcos. This year the Roadrunners visit to outlet city is one of two games pitting orange v. maroon on the college schedule in Texas. Both teams are coming off bowl victories and will have new quarterbacks. UTSA will look to continue its role as the Lucy to Texas State's Charlie Brown, forever pulling that football out before it can be kicked.

Saturday Sept. 14 at Texas Longhorns

Series History: Texas leads 1-0

Last Meeting: Sept. 17, 2022 in Austin. Texas won 41-20.

Fun Facts: The Roadrunners conclude their non-conference tour of I-35 with a visit to the 40 Acres to face the Longhorns. Two years ago the Roadrunners made their first visit to Austin and gave the Longhorns an early scare, leading by 10 points in the first half, before Texas remembered who they were and pulled away in the second half. This time the Longhorns are proud new members of the SEC and coming off an appearance in the College Football Playoff. A win at Austin this September would be the biggest win in UTSA history.

Saturday Sept. 21 v. Houston Christian Huskies

Series History: First-ever meeting

Last Meeting: N/A

Fun Facts: UTSA will complete its tour of Houston colleges when it hosts the school formerly known as Houston Baptist. The game against the Huskies will also make it three straight seasons that the Roadrunners play a non-conference game against a college from Houston. The Roadrunners will welcome the Huskies to the Alamodome to close out the non-conference schedule in 2024. UTSA will hope to improve on its record against Houston schools. The Roadrunners are a combined 10-6 against Rice, Houston and Texas Southern.

Saturday Sept. 28 at East Carolina Pirates

Series History: UTSA leads 1-0, first meeting in Greenville, NC

Last Meeting: UTSA won 41-27 over East Carolina in the Alamodome on Oct. 28, 2023.

Fun Facts: Just 11 months after they first met, UTSA and East Carolina will face each other on the football field for the second time. This time UTSA visits Greenville for the first time as the conference opener in 2024. UTSA will be putting a few streaks on the line at East Carolina. The Roadrunners have never lost a conference opener under head coach Jeff Traylor and also have yet to lose to a school in North Carolina going 2-0 against Charlotte and 1-0 against East Carolina. UTSA is 1-0 in the state of North Carolina after winning at Charlotte in 2015.

Saturday Oct. 12 at Rice Owls

Series History: UTSA leads 8-3 overall and 3-2 at Rice Stadium

Last Meeting: UTSA won 34-14 over Rice in the Alamodome on Nov. 11

Fun Facts: UTSA v. Rice will meet for the 12th time this season, tying North Texas for the most-played opponent by UTSA. The Roadrunners and Owls meet at Rice Stadium for the first time since Nov. 19, 2022, when UTSA won 41-7 to claim the regular season Conference USA championship. UTSA has won three in a row at Rice Stadium after starting 0-2 in the series along South Main in Houston. UTSA's second loss at Rice Stadium in 2014 remains the last time Rice has won in the series. The series has only been interrupted once, in 2020 by a COVID outbreak among the teams. This year's game comes a day before the 12th anniversary of the first game between UTSA and Rice in 2012.

Saturday Oct. 19 v. Florida Atlantic Owls

Series History: Florida Atlantic leads 3-1 overall and 1-0 in the Alamodome

Last Meeting: UTSA won 36-10 at Boca Raton on Oct. 21.

Fun Facts: UTSA welcomes Florida Atlantic to the Alamodome for the second time ever and the first time in five years. Much has changed since Florida Atlantic last visited the Alamodome in November 2019. That year's Owls were led by Lane Kiffin and defeated UTSA 40-26 in what became the final home game with Frank Wilson as head coach of the Roadrunners. Last year UTSA got its second win ever in the state of Florida and first win in the series with a dominating 36-10 win. The Roadrunners will look to make it two in a row over the Owls and continue their strong form at home.

Saturday Oct. 26 at Tulsa Golden Hurricane

Series History: UTSA leads 1-0 overall and in games played in Tulsa

Last Meeting: UTSA beat Tulsa 34-15 in Tulsa on Nov. 2, 2013.

Fun Facts: After an 11-year hiatus UTSA and Tulsa will meet for the second time this season. The current Roadrunners and Golden Hurricane players were in elementary school or younger when the schools last played. Once again UTSA will visit Tulsa just as they did back in November 2013 when Eric Soza led the Roadrunners to a double-digit win. After that season Tulsa joined the American. Tulsa has the smallest enrollment of any university in the FBS. UTSA will be making its fourth trip to the state of Oklahoma which will move that state into a tie for fourth most visited state. The Roadrunners are 1-2 all-time in Oklahoma.

Saturday Nov. 2 v. Memphis Tigers

Series History: UTSA leads 1-0, first meeting in the Alamodome

Last Meeting: UTSA won 31-28 in Memphis on Sept. 25, 2021

Fun Facts: This is a game four years in the making. UTSA and Memphis were supposed to meet on Sept. 25, 2020, but the Tigers had to back out after a COVID outbreak on their team, in their place UTSA scheduled Middle Tennessee. Now Memphis will finally make its debut in the Alamodome. Memphis was the site of one of UTSA's greatest games in 2021. That year the Roadrunners fell behind 21-0 at Liberty Bowl Stadium and came back to win 31-28 on a last-second field goal. It's possible the game in the Alamodome this season is as close as the 2021 game in Memphis was. This one could also be a key game in the race for one of the two spots in the AAC Championship game.

Friday Nov. 15 v. North Texas Mean Green

Series History: UTSA leads 7-5 overall and 5-1 in the Alamodome

Last Meeting: UTSA won 37-29 in Denton on Nov. 4, 2023

Fun Facts: The state's best new rivalry gets the Friday Night Lights treatment when North Texas visits UTSA on the third Friday in November. UTSA got their first win in Denton since 2013 last season. The Roadrunners pushed their win streak against the Mean Green to three in a row. This year will be the first time North Texas has visited the Alamodome since the 2022 Conference USA Championship game which UTSA won 48-27. The Mean Green went 0-2 in the Alamodome that year as they lost the regular season visit 31-27 on a last-second touchdown pass from Frank Harris to JT Clark. No team in the series has won four in a row against the other. UTSA will try for that this year while North Texas will try to beat UTSA for the first time since they stopped UTSA's undefeated season in the final week of the 2021 regular season.

Friday Nov. 22 OR Saturday Nov. 23 v. Temple Owls

Series History: UTSA leads 1-0, first meeting in the Alamodome

Last Meeting: UTSA won 49-34 in Philadelphia on Oct. 7, 2023.

Fun Facts: The final home game of the 2024 regular season will see the Roadrunners play their fourth Owls team of the season. Temple will join Kennesaw State and Florida Atlantic as Owls that try to come into the Alamodome and knock the Roadrunners from their nest. UTSA will be hoping to improve to 2-0 against the Owls after beating Temple to open their career in the American last season. Going into 2024, Temple is the last team to score 30 points on UTSA. If that streak is still intact on November 22 or 23 then that means it will have been a good year for the Roadrunner defense.

Saturday Nov. 30 at Army-West Point Black Knights

Series History: Army leads 3-1 overall, UTSA Leads 1-0 in West Point

Last Meeting: Army beat UTSA 37-29 in the Alamodome on Sept. 15, 2023

Fun Facts: UTSA and Army meet as conference opponents for the first time to close out the 2024 regular season. The Roadrunners only win in the series against Army came on Sept. 10, 2022, when UTSA won 41-38 in overtime. The weather might be a little different this time around as UTSA visits the banks of the Hudson River at the end of November. It's usually cooler in West Point at the end of November compared to early September. Depending on how the rest of the season goes, UTSA could be going to West Point looking to claim one of the two spots in the AAC championship game.
