UTSA Baseball returns home this weekend for a series against Middle Tennessee before hosting I-35 rivals Texas State on Tuesday.

The Roadrunners return home after their four game road trip turned into a three game road trip. UTSA had one of its three games in Charlotte canceled because of weather. The Roadrunners split a doubleheader with Charlotte last Thursday.

UTSA’s biggest win of the week, and possibly the season, came on Tuesday night when the Roadrunners beat an SEC opponent for the first time in program history. The Roadrunners went into College Station and beat Texas A&M 5-1.

It was the Roadrunners first win in College Station and their first win against the Aggies since 2006 when the Aggies plied their trade in the Big 12 and UTSA was a member of the Southland Conference.

Bad weather led to changes in UTSA’s series in Charlotte last weekend. The series was originally set to run Thursday through Saturday. The threat of rain led to a Thursday doubleheader and a third game to be played either Friday or Saturday.

On Thursday morning UTSA won the first game of the doubleheader 5-3. The second game began in the early afternoon. UTSA got out to a 5-0 lead before the game went into a nearly three hour rain delay. When play resumed UTSA upped its lead to 7-0 before Charlotte came back to tie the score at 8-8 before eventually winning the game 12-10.

The third game was set for Friday evening but rain prevented it from being played that day as well as Saturday. There is no plan to make up the third game of the series so UTSA and Charlotte will each have a half game difference from the rest of the conference.

On Tuesday UTSA was in College Station to face the Aggies. The Roadrunners scored two runs in the top of the second inning and three in the top of the third.

Ulises Quiroga got the win after starting the game with two scoreless innings. Daniel Shafer, Ruger Riojas, Luke Malone and Simon Miller all pitched in the win against the Aggies. Miller pitched the final two innings of the game and gave up the only run scored by the Aggies in the bottom of the ninth.

UTSA will now look to carry the momentum of the win over A&M back home for a four-game home stand.
