A game that will be remembered for a long time, GJ and Traylor’s first FBS matchup.

Riding high after their first P5 win, T-State pulls into San Antonio ready to fight the world. On the other side, a UTSA team that experienced a tough loss last week. Something I thought I’d never see but UTSA vs. Texas State at the Dome might be drawing a crowd near 47-50k.

I’m seeing a team that has trouble defending and another team that has trouble getting the ball downfield, so predicting this matchup ending isn’t easy.

One thing that is for certain is that UTSA has a record of bouncing back from their losses. Coupled with a euphoric Bobcat team coming off possibly the biggest win in school history, I assume it would be hard to refocus the following week.

TJ Finley is a force to be reckoned with, and I imagine a big concentration will be limiting his big plays. Frank needs to find his mojo again, and I don’t doubt that he will. The Birds aren’t dead yet.

The entirety of the series between UTSA and Texas State could be encapsulated in a Peanuts comic strip. Every time they have played UTSA has been the Lucy to Texas State's Charlie Brown, pulling out the football of victory before Texas State gets a chance to kick it. This year Charlie Brown has his best chance ever to finally kick that ball and bring victory back to San Marcos. Alas the Alamodome will not be an easy place to come away with that win. UTSA will enter angry after feeling they missed an opportunity last week in Houston. The Roadrunners defense will prove its better then Baylor and slow the Bobcat offense while the UTSA offense bounces back from last week. Once again Lucy pulls that football away before Charlie Brown can kick it.

Home Sweet Dome! The Roadrunners first home game of the year is a fun rivalry match up against the Texas State Bobcats and it couldn’t come at a more perfect time. Personally it feels like a reset (TO ME) .With the performance of the defense away from home I am very optimistic about that trait magnifying in the Alamodome. JT Clark is back and the Run game is off to a good start. I think the Defense will make multiple clutch plays!

As NCAA conference realignment continues to disrupt and displace long-held regional rivalries, it's refreshing to see two local teams go at it. The Texas State series is one of UTSA's oldest and most-played in almost every sport (60+ games in basketball!), and it's with the closest Division I FBS school to San Antonio. If you went to one of these universities in a certain era, you have some wild stories and intense dislike for the other side. Exactly the way collegiate sports should be.

While the football "rivalry" has been lopsided thus far in UTSA's favor, it's only a matter of time before the Bobcats earn one back. With Texas State's new-look team on an emotional high after beating Baylor, this could definitely be their year.

The safe odds are still with the Roadrunners, but this game (and tailgate) should be a fun one.

The UTSA Roadrunners (0-1) are coming off a 17-14 road loss against the Houston Cougars. Meanwhile, the Texas State Bobcats (1-0) went to Waco, upsetting the Baylor Bears 42-31. The Roadrunners return to the Alamodome on Saturday in a game that has the makings of a shootout.

Frank Harris did not have his best day last weekend, as he had three interceptions, but the Roadrunners still hung in there, and if it had not been for a questionable call in the final minutes, who knows what might have happened. I see Harris having a big game this weekend, as well as Bobcat QB TJ Finley, who threw for 298 yards and three touchdowns against the Bears. This game becomes the shootout we all expected to happen last week, with the Roadrunners coming out on top.

I bet if you ask Jeff Traylor he will tell you this Texas State team reminds him of his team from a few years ago. A program that hasn't had recent success, that is looking to prove everyone wrong. Unfortunately for Texas State they will get a very displeased Roadrunner squad that is looking to take out some first game frustrations on someone. Could Frank Harris have two bad games in a row? Sure. Do I think it happens? Not this weekend. UTSA and Texas State go at it for the firth time and for the fifth time the Roadrunners come out on top.
