Five to watch: Middle Tennessee

MORE: UTSA leads for JUCO tight end

UTSA ends the season with a home game against Middle Tennessee, a team that will represent CUSA during bowl time in the Bahamas. Here are five players UTSA fans must know before Saturday.

QB - Brent Stockstill

Stockstill will be the next great CUSA quarterback. The redshirt freshman has thrown for 3,421 yards, 26 touchdowns, and 8 interceptions. With the UTSA defense struggling of late Stockstill should have a field day with this secondary. He's a true pocket passer, so if UTSA can get to him he won't bust out runs like Jackson did last week. Jason Neill and Marcus Davenport must have their best game of the season if they want to limit Stockstill.

LB - T.T. Barber

Just as impressive as Stockstill on the defensive side of the ball for Middle Tennessee is linebacker T.T. Barber. He leads the team 83 tackles, 10.5 TFL's, 4 sacks, 1 interception, and 3 PBU's. Long story short, T.T. Barber is one fantastic football player. It will be interesting to see if Jarveon Williams will be able to crack 100 yards for the third straight game. If UTSA can get the running game going it will continue to open things up for Sturm and the offense.

RB - Jordan Parker

Seems like UTSA plays a great running back every game. Now they get to play Jordan Parker, Desmond Anderson, and Shane Tucker. Parker is the featured back, but the other two backs are just as capable. Middle Tennessee has found a good balance on offense with Stockstill and the running game. UTSA will have their hands full trying to stop the running game. It's the final game of the season, so maybe this UTSA defense and the seniors will have one more great performance in them. We will see.

WR - Richie James

He is a 5-9, receiver that has lit up opponents this year. He leads Middle Tennessee with 1,135 yards, and 6 touchdowns. He will remind people of La. Tech's Trent Taylor. I think James will have a similar game against UTSA. The UTSA defense will be worried about the deep threat, so Stockstill should have James open underneath. I can see James having a 100 yard game against the Roadrunners.

S - Kevin Byard

I feel like T.T. Barber and Kevin Byard have been around for 6 years. The seniors will play their last conference game this weekend. Byard is Middle Tennessee hard hitting safety. He has has 3 interceptions on the year. UTSA doesn't throw the ball deep often, but it seems like UTSA is back to throwing the ball to David Morgan. I would play good money to see a one-on-one matchup with Kevin Byard and David Morgan.
